Celebrity Gala at the Petersen Automotive Museum

Held in the Bruce Meyer Family Gallery- named for distinguished Roman alum, Bruce Meyer- the Gala Celebrates Los Angeles High School’s history, legacy, and future potential. Featuring LA High students and Alumni Award Recipients:
GEORGE TAKEI LAHS Class of 1956
Mr. Takei is best known for his portrayal of Mr. Sulu in the acclaimed television and film series Star Trek. He’s an actor, social justice activist and social media mega-power! He originated the role of Sam Kimura and Ojii-Chan in the Broadway musical Allegiance, and is the subject of To Be Takei, a documentary on his life and career.
MILT LARSEN LAHS Class of 1949
A true renaissance man, with a career that encompasses writing, producing and performing across multiple disciplines, Mr. Larsen is best known for his role in the world of Magic! Founder and President of the world famous private club for Magicians, The Magic Castle in Hollywood, he has been voted one of the 100 most influential individuals in the history of magic! In addition, he is a well known theater historian and record collector!
GERRY BROWN LAHS Class of 1976
Mr. Brown is a Grammy Award winning recording engineer and producer, based in Los Angeles and credited on over 47 Platinum and Gold Records working with such mega stars as Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, Raphael Saadiq, Vanessa Williams and Brian McKnight. His 2011 Grammy win was for Best Contemporary Jazz Album, “The Stanley Clarke Band“.
SIEDAH GARRETT LAHS Class of 1978
Siedah Garrett is a GRAMMY-winning and twice Oscar nominated singer/songwriter whose contributions to popular culture are unparalleled. A native of Los Angeles, Garrett began her career as a background vocalist when she was just 15 years old. She’s done it all – from being a singer in a variety of local bands in her early days, to catapulting to the status of one of the most sought-after songwriters in the world. A collaborator and band member of Michael Jackson’s, Siedah is most famous for co-writing The King of Pop’s mega hit “Man in the Mirror” from his GRAMMY Award-winning, chart-topping 1987 album, “Bad”, and as his duet partner on “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You”, that album’s first single. She also toured with Jackson as featured vocalist on his Dangerous World Tour.
BRUCE CORWIN LAHS Class of 1958
Bruce Corwin is Chairman of the Board of Metropolitan Theatres Corporation, which operates 100 motion picture theatre screens in Southern California, Colorado, Utah and Idaho. He is a founding member of the Santa Barbara and Palm Springs International Film Festivals and has been a trustee of the American Film Institute. Deeply involved in the Los Angeles non-profit community, Bruce serves on the Boards of Hebrew Union College, The Discovery Cube Children’s Museum, Martin Luther King Hospital, The Coro Foundation, The Apple Academy Charter School, and the California Coalition for Public Higher Education. A proud graduate of Los Angeles High School and Wesleyan University in Connecticut, Bruce holds a B.A. in Political Science.
